About me
David Herrera Cruz is a first generation settler in Treaty 6, working as an Educational Consultant with the TIPS (Technology Integration and Planning Supports) team in EPSB. Born in Quito, Ecuador, he immigrated to Canada at the age of 13. As an educator, he is passionate about integrating technology in the classroom as a driver for equity. As Department Head of Educational Technology at Queen Elizabeth School he led the integration of iPads in Science and Math classes, a Digital Citizenship plan, video production and live streaming announcements. As a certified Minecraft Education Trainer, David is also currently leading EPSB's work in Minecraft Education, and running the first Minecraft Education Build Challenge at EPSB. David's work is also centered around Anti-Racism, Reconciliation, and Equity (ARRE). He has led the implementation of the Anti-Racism Action Plan at Queen E, and is currently a part of EPSB's ARRE Staff Advisory committee. Outside of work, David can be found playing boardgames, cycling, or spending time with friends and family.
